Another overdue update. My list of books to possibly add is still dauntingly large, but I've made the first tiny dent in it. Progress as time permits.

Finally an update, at long last. Still no new books added, but that will come as I get to them. I've been wrapped up with the major obligation of my master's degree in math for the last several months, and such things naturally come before feeding textfiles of votes to my now-archaic parser. Now I'm into the last quarter of the program, and essentially home free, modulo a few details here and there, and hopefully I can get this site into a generally maintained state. At this point all the votes are current and complete. I've lost count of how many books need to be verified and added, but it's more than one by a bunch. I'm thinking about starting with the 'P's, just to be random.

There are indeed new books to be added. There are just far more of them than I can get a handle on right now- a few more than 300, to ballpark it. I'll be adding them in vaguely alphabetical chunks over the next few updates. Brace yourselves...

Yay, didn't take quite three months to get to it... Yay also on breaking 2000 in the "contenders" (books voted on by 5+ people) category! Very impressive. It's abominably hot here, and all the ice in my coke has melted, so this must be brief. In case you were curious, though, here's where those statistics come from, along with a cool (but slightly stressed at this point and showing its age- when the code to draw it was written, having 1000+ in a single column wasn't going to happen any time soon) bar chart showing the score breakdown (black portion of bars indicate all books with that score, dark red portion indicates contender books with that score). The whole program needs to be rewritten in a real (read: not VB) programming language at some point, but it's been a vast help for the years I've been using it.

Again, it's certainly been a while. Pretty solidly big update, though. It's nice to see the '0 votes' entry slowly but steadily tick down, even though it still leave over a thousand books listed that no one has ever scored. Poor neglected things, obviously someone needs to give them a try, and let the rest of us know if their shunning is deserved or not.
